Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely Part 7

This week's prompts revolved around Halloween. There were some great pictures as well as several line/object prompts but I since Halloween didn't quite fit into what I had planned for this week, I went with the line of 'It's alive!' instead. Happy Reading!

Never More Lonely Part 7

"It's alive!"

I make a face at Cooper. "That's gross."

"Hey, mate, it's in your refrigerator. I think the bowl might actually be growling. We need to buy new storage bowls too; I threw one out that had Halloween candy so old that it had all melted and cemented to the inside of the bowl!"

Cooper put the food that was still good in a box as he cleaned out the fridge. "I can't wait to finish this up. We're almost done moving."

Some friends from my jobsite came by and helped us with the furniture. We're just doing the final clean up. Cooper nearly runs his fingers through his hair, grimacing at his gloves at the last minute.

"I can't wait to get clean. Hot shower, then fall into bed."

"I'm tired too," Cooper chuckles, "but we have to make it first."

I wave that away. "Details." Unable to resist, I lean down and kiss him, parting his lips gently and sucking on the lower one until he groans. My voice is hoarse when I speak again. "Maybe I'm not that tired."

"Uh-huh." Cooper grins.

We've been home for two weeks. We finalized the lease paperwork on our new duplex apartment. It's twice as big as my place; my furniture looks a little lost in the enormous living and bedroom but we can get new furniture together. The second bedroom was perfect for my computer, and Cooper was going to set up his home office in there.

Leaving Australia was hard for Cooper. We hadn't gone to see Pete again but he'd been a specter along with us for the entire trip to the airport. The silent strain showed on Cooper's face and the rigid set of his shoulders; our departure had hurt. I hated it. I wanted to make Cooper happy and I couldn't.

I listened to him talk but suggested that he find a counselor. He'd made an appointment for next week.

But right now we're happy. We're moving into a new place, together, and that's something I never would've considered possible. I used to work, then come home to a silent apartment while I waited to Cooper to come online, just to have someone to connect with. I slept, and woke up, alone.

Now he's with me. We sleep snuggled together, and I get to wake up every morning to his gorgeous face. Every night I can touch him, taste the salt of his skin and the spice in his kiss. And sink my cock deep into his body.

Tucker slams the fridge shut, taking off his gloves. "I think that's it. You done?"

I've been scrubbing the same spot for a few minutes.

"Yeah."

We put the box in the car then throw out the trash. I lock the door one last time.

Our duplex has dark blue siding and white trim. We'll have to get a lawnmower because, for the first time ever, I’ve grass to trim. The smell of paint’s strong inside, the interior newly remodeled with rich wood floors and cream colors.

I shove the food box into the fridge then peel off my shirt off. "Shower?" I ask.

He shakes his head. "You start. I'll be just a minute."

"Okay." I'm already unsnapping my pants.

The hot water streams over my head. Cold hands slide across my chest and I yelp. Cooper snickers. "Stop laughing." I wipe water off my face and glare at him playfully.

"You didn't hear me come in?" His eyes are sparkling.

"No."

I jockey around, letting Cooper get under the water. I love to watch it slide over his body. He lathers up his hair as I wash his body. He hums happily. His cock is growing as I step close to wash his back.
Dropping to my knees, I wash his legs, then his smooth balls. His cock is hard as I run the cloth up and down.

"That feels good," he groans. I push him back under the water to rinse him off. He gets the shampoo out of his hair as the bubbles slide down his body until he's rinsed. Then I can't resist. I lean forward, still on my knees, and take his cock in my mouth. It tastes a bit like soap, but mostly it’s just clean skin. Salty fluid drips on my tongue as I lap at the small slit in the round tip.

He turns off the water. "Bed," Cooper demands.

Dark satin sheets cover the mattress. I raise one eyebrow. "Nice."

"It'd be nice if you’d get on that bed on your back so I can ride you."

I laugh but I'm instantly so hard that it hurts. Cooper pushes me over onto the cool sheets and then climbs up, kneeling over my hips. He slips a bottle of lube out from under the pillows.

"You planned this," I accuse, my eyes dilating as he drips the slick fluid over my cock and then reaches back to his own ass.

"I want you. It's insane how much I want you."

My hands go to his knees and my answer is swallowed by the loud groan escaping me as he slowly lowers himself down until he’s sitting on my lap.

A short pause and then the time for slow is apparently over. I shout when Cooper lifts up and then rocks back hard, over and over. I watch his cock bob until I can't take it anymore and let go of his legs with one hand so that I can stroke it.

He shudders. "Good." Sweat drips down his face.

I feel him swell just before Cooper comes, his ass clenching around me, forcing me over my own precipice.

"Fuck!" I shout as my hips snap up.

He collapses on me and I hold him close. I feel him nuzzle my shoulder. We both speak at the same time.

"I love you."

I laugh, his head rocking on my chest. Contentment fills me, banishing the last of my loneliness.

The End... yep, that's right! The month is over and this is the end of the story for Cooper and Owen. I hope you enjoyed it! Next week is a whole new plot with new characters! Woo hoo!!

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely Part 6

This week there were several image prompts, some word, and line prompts. I opted to use the line prompt, "Look into my eyes." I hope you enjoy this installment of Never More Lonely.

Never More Lonely Part 6

"Look into my eyes." The nurse's voice is quiet but firm. Pete turns his head and looks at her. "Good morning Pete, you have some visitors," she says. "Is that okay?"

He blinks. "Sure." His voice is deep and steady.

I come to visit Pete as often as I can, but I can’t tell anyone why. I make sure I never go when his family is there though. They are part of the apostolic church and had lived through some of the most conservative times. They aren't bad people but they'd been very strict when we were growing up.

Pete was supposed to be at my place that night. I'd helped him sneak out and meet a date at the movies. His parents hadn't even allowed him to go to movies, calling it 'Sin'ema, much less date. If they'd known he was seeing a guy they would've probably had a stroke.

Instead, Pete had skidded off the road in my car before he'd ever gotten there. I was supposed to be in the car with him but I'd had a horrible cold and was coughing up a lung. I'd stayed home and stayed whole.

He’d put his head through the windshield. He’d lived in a care facility ever since.

"G'day," Pete says. "Do I know you? Are you friends with my parents?"

I wish that Owen could hold my hand but his solid warmth against my back is soothing.

"No. I'm your friend, Pete. My name's Cooper. We went to high school together."

Pete's head cocks and his eyebrows scrunch. "We did?"

It isn't one of his really good days. Sometimes he recognizes me from my last visit. It’s been a while. "Who's he?" Pete asks, pointing at Owen.

"Oh, hi." Owen shuffles his feet behind me. "I'm Owen. I'm visiting Cooper."

"From where? You have a weird accent."

Owen laughs. "To me you guys have the accents."

That makes Pete smile. "Guess so."

Walking into his room, I hold out the bag in my hand. "These are for you."

"Really?" He takes the bag from me and opens it. "Oh! Yum. These are my favorite!" He pulls out a handful of passionberries with a wide grin and pops a few in his mouth, chewing quickly. "Thanks mate! It was ace of you to bring these. Must have cost big bikkies though. It’s cold outside."

I shrug. I see Owen soundlessly echo Pete's sentence in confusion.

"A friend with a greenhouse grows them, it wasn't too bad. I got a mate's rate."

Pete finishes the berries in his hand then puts the bag down. He's watching me with those big brown eyes. His fingers trace the seam on his jeans, wiping berry stains on them. “You’re nice. Thanks.”

Nice. I shake my head.

He looks at me carefully. He bites his lip, then says, "You look sad. Because of me?"

"No." I shake my head. "It's because of me. See, I'm moving to the United States."

"You don't want to go?" Pete’s mind was broken but he wasn’t stupid. "Or are you sad because of something else?"

My eyes burn and it hurts to swallow. "I want to go, but mostly I'm sad because I won't be here anymore."

"Why?"

My breath catches. How do I explain? Admit that it is my fault he’s here? I'd come up with the plan to sneak him out on his first date. Pete's head injury, the fact that he’ll never be able to function normally, and will spend the rest of his life in a care facility—all of that is my fault. And now I wouldn't even be here to be his friend, to do what I can to make it up to him.

How in the hell do I tell him that I was abandoning him to go live a life he should've had?

Owen's hand slides down and rests on my back gently. He'd spent hours listening to me talk earlier; he knew why I felt guilty. He'd told me that deep inside I knew Pete wouldn't blame me if he knew how I felt and could understand. Spending my life alone wouldn't take away Pete's brain damage and make him whole.

"I'm going to miss coming to visit," I finally say. A few tears escape my control. "I'll miss you a lot. You’re my best friend."

Pete leans forward and pulls me into his big arms. He smells like Acqua di Parma shave gel he'd always had to have from David Jones. His voice is like a deep rumble in my ear, but I can't understand him.

I pull back. "What?"

"It’s nice of you to come and to bring me the passionberries, but," his eyes met mine, "I don't really know you."

I close my eyes briefly.

"My nurse tells me lots of things, but I don't remember." Pete points to a picture on the nightstand labeled Mom and Dad. "I don't even remember them, not really. They were here yesterday and they seemed so sad. Now you're sad too."

He runs his hand through his hair. "I don't like making people sad. Maybe moving will make you happy."

Struggling, I try to find control. I’m making Pete unhappy, the last thing I want to do. Owen's quiet but his touch helps me calm down.

"I think I will be."

A wide smile crosses Pete’s face. "Good." He yawns. "Sorry. I was up really early; the guy down the hall was upset again. I think I'm ready to take a nap."

Pete and I hug one last time. "Bye," I say quietly.

"Bye, Cooper." He looks at Owen who’s already standing by the door. "Nice to meet you."

Owen nods. "You too, Pete. Thanks for letting us visit."

I stand up, letting my friend go one last time.

Owen takes the keys from me when we get outside. He waits and when I break down he holds me.

"It's hard now but it'll be okay, Cooper. I promise."

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely Part 5

So, there were several picture prompts again this week, as well as several line/word prompts. Since I love picture prompts I used one of those. For those who follow my pictures, yes the one I used is actually one of my pictures that I offered up as stock. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this week's prompt piece!

Never More Lonely Part 5

"What do you mean you have to go back?" My hands lower my camera from my face slowly. I'd been staring at a decaying cherub fountain, walking around it to get a good angle to show the curve of the cheek along with the slowly consuming moss.

I turn to stare at Cooper. He has his hands jammed into the pockets of my windbreaker. He scuffs one shoe through the damp grass.

"Well, I have to pack up my apartment and I should explain to my family exactly why I'm not coming back home. My parents know about my plans and are happy for me, but I need to say goodbye to Pete." Cooper’s shoulders slump when he says Pete’s name.

I rub the back of my neck. How can I argue with that? I know how important Pete is to him. He is part of the reason why I never thought Cooper would move.  "When do you think you will go?" I ask carefully. I really should have expected it, but for some reason, I wasn’t.

"I was thinking about going this weekend. The office is running and Jacob is going to take care of my duties for my week's leave."

A single month. That's all it had been and I was already so used to having Cooper living with me. The thought him being gone for a week is depressing. What will I do for a whole week without him to spend my evenings with?

"You said you're done with your job, right?" Cooper starts walking again and I follow him.

I am tucking my camera back into my bag. "Yeah," I say. I don't feel like taking pictures anymore.

He stops and turns to me. He puts on hand on my arm. "Come with me."

Blinking, I stare at him. "Go with you? To Australia?" I hadn't considered that.

"Sure. Why not? Your job is done, so you can afford to take some time off right? My company gets a discount on airfare so it's really not that expensive. I want you to see my home, Owen. I promised to take you to my favorite beach, remember?"

Impulsively, I agree. "Okay. Yeah, I'll go!" I've never gone anywhere. I'd gotten a passport last winter, just in case the chance ever came up to visit Cooper in Australia. I’d never gone anywhere outside the US before and this was my chance. The best part is that he will be coming back with me; it won’t be a short visit where I would have to leave him behind.

Cooper jumped at me and wrapped his arms around my neck. His giant grin lights up his eyes. "Awesome. I'm so excited now."

I lean my head down and capture his lips. They part and I slip my tongue into the warm heat of his mouth. I can taste the cherry Coke he'd been drinking as our tongues tangle. I pull back and he captures my lower lip in his teeth.

I groan and back him off the path into the grove of trees. His feet shuffle between mine as he refuses to let go of my mouth.

Our breath comes harshly through our noses as his back ends up against a tree.

"Oof." He finally lets go when our chests slam together. He has time for one breath before I surge forward and take his mouth again. I put one of my hands behind his head to protect it from the rough bark and to hold him in place.  One of his hands creeps between us and over the bulge testing my zipper's strength.

"We are too far from home," he says with a groan. The palm of his hand rubs against the head of my erection. I feel like I can’t breathe.

"Fuck." I draw the word out as he nips at my neck.

"Have you taken," he tugs on my ear with his teeth, "enough pictures?"

"Unngh." Words completely fail me. I nod.

Cooper laughs and I shudder. His fingers slip into my front pocket. "I think I better drive," he says.

***

My boss had no problem when I arranged for a week's vacation. My next big project was starting after I got back, so it was actually perfect timing.

I insisted we get to the airport three hours early. I'm not surprised when I get picked to go through the screeners.

"I bet you're glad I insisted we come early now," I say to Cooper as he waits for me. He shrugs. He was dressed casually; he was hot in his suits but something about the way his tight t-shirt fit to his chest made my fingers itch to caress him. I resist the urge to molest him in public, but barely. The flight was going to be really long but we have first class tickets.

It's been years since I flew and I'd never been in first class. "This is nice."

Cooper takes my hand. "It is."

***

I'm not quite sure what I expected, but Cooper's dad isn't anything like him. Large and gruff, his accent is even more pronounced. He got most of his looks from his mom.

Not quite sure what I expected, but the city looked just like ... a city. I was cold, the weather is chillier than I am used to considering it is heading into winter and back home it is early summer. Needing a jacket in June is definitely a first for me. Our first two days were spent packing.

Tuesday morning I wake up and Cooper wasn't in bed. I get up and go looking for him, wending my way through the boxes littering the hall. There's a light on in the kitchen.

Cooper's sitting at the table, his head in his hands. I crouch down beside him and put my hand on his back.

"You okay?"

His eyes had dark circles under them. "I don't know what I'm going to say to Pete."

I hope you enjoyed that little hitch at the end... more to come next week! (Yes, I know I'm evil! Muahahaha) Don't forget to check out the other Wednesday Briefers and their great stories!

Wednesday Brief: Never More Lonely Pt. 4

Yep, this day has rolled around again! Time to re-visit Cooper & Owen. Enjoy! We had various visual prompts this week, including a tiger, a plate of sushi, a unicorn, and the visual I chose.

Pale yellow light is seeping in through the window when I wake up. Owen said he was planning on sleeping in but he's not in bed beside me, he's standing by the window.

I slip from the bed and pad up behind him. Rubbing my face against his shoulder, I give him a tight hug. "Why don't you tell me what's bothering you?"

The urge to hold my breath is hard to overcome as I wait. I start to let him go. His hands come up, trapping mine.

"Stay." His voice is rough and his hands are hard against my wrists.

I freeze, waiting, my heart beating harshly. I wonder if he can feel it against his back.

"I don't want to help you pick out an apartment so you can move away from me."

"Owen." I bang my head against his shoulder. "I never planned to move away from you. I wanted you to come with me to pick our new place. Maybe somewhere a little farther out of the city and closer to the scrub you love so much."

He turns and stares hard into my eyes. "Really?"

"Yes, you big idiot. Do you really think I would move all this way to not be with you? Have you lost your ability to actually talk to me away from the computer screen? Why didn't you say something last night?"

Owen let me go, one hand going up to rub at his head. "I don't know."

"Well that's really fucking stupid." My voice rises. "I told you before; I'm not going anywhere now that I'm here, not unless you're coming to."

"You're going to manage a whole office, Cooper. You were a suit to work; I wear jeans and a hard hat."

I roll my eyes. "You run more people on your job-site in your jeans and hardhat than I do in my office. Do you think I care if you're the boss of a bunch of chippies? You could wear a white shirt and sit in your work trailer; I know you could. You choose to get out there and work with your guys. I admire that." I knew exactly what was bothering Owen now, and I wasn't about to let him keep thinking he was inferior in any way.

I take a step closer, pushing my erection against him. "Besides, do you know how hot your body is? And it's all from hard work, not fake muscle gained at the gym." My heart is racing again.

Owen's hands come up and pull me hard against him. I shudder as the underside of my cock slides up and down as his hands flex.

"That so?"

"Yes," I gasp. "Now, are you going to fuck me so we can shower and meet the real estate agent on time?"

His hands grab my ass. "Hell yeah."

***

We're a little late but not too much. It isn't even because of the hot, sweaty sex where Owen showed exactly how happy he was that I'd figured out why he was being an idiot and told him off. We were late because he found out that the area we were heading to was near a trail he loved hiking.

I'd pulled out slacks and a button up shirt, thinking to make a good impression on the agent. As soon as Owen started talking about this huge rock at the top of the hill that had a view of not just one, but three different mountains, I hung them up and grabbed some jeans and a polo. I didn't have hiking boots but Owen said tennis shoes would work as he pulled on a dark red polo that hugged his wide shoulders.

"It's an easy trail," he'd reassured me.

I tugged him down for a kiss. "You know, you're even hotter in person. The computer just didn't do your shoulders justice." I gripped them and gave him a squeeze.

The temptation was too strong, so we left the apartment. Picking up Owen's camping gear from the storage area, along with a spare backpack for me, we loaded up with a few essentials. Then we sped off for the real estate agent. Owen's crazy driving got us there just a few minutes late, though my knuckles were white on the door handle when he cut off a semi truck.

"One piece, I'm shocked." My voice is shaky.

"Oh, you're fine. Don't be a wuss."

I ignore his jibe.

Several of the small houses our agent shows us could be good, but Owen and I can't seem to fall in love with any of them.

"How about I show you a few more tomorrow?" Sarah says. "I have two places with open houses, and if you're willing to move even farther out, I might have just what you're looking for."

"I don't mind," I say. "Owen?"

He shakes his head. "I don't mind. Besides, I'm hungry."

We shake Sarah's hand. She takes off in her car for her next appointment and we head over to a grocery store and pick up one of those deli chicken lunch deals.

I enjoy walking through the scrub with Owen. He points out plants that he knows and once a rabbit that froze when we did, waiting to see if we were predators.

Standing on top of the massive gray rock, the view is more incredible than I'd imagined. Owen stands behind me as I brace one arm against the rock. I lean into him.

We climb back down for lunch. The air is warm and Owen packed a blanket. I enjoy the sun baking down on my face until a shadow blocks it.

I look around but we are still alone. I pull Owen down on top of me.

He rolls until I'm on top. He kisses me. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"For coming here, being with me."

I lick at his lips and say, "You're welcome," just to make him shut up. "Now, kiss me again."

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely Pt. 3

This week's Wednesday Brief is a two-fer! Sorry, no 2 chapters, but I did use two of the prompts. I chose the line prompt: I'm glad I'm finally... as well as the sunset/sunrise visual. I hope you enjoy this week's update to Cooper and Owen's story, told from Owen's POV this time.

Never More Lonely Pt. 3

"I'm glad I'm finally done with this week." I sink down on the couch with a sigh, a beer in my hand. Cooper chuckles. He'd just gotten back from work too. He'd been putting in a lot of hours over the last two weeks too.

"Is work always this hectic for you?" he asks, taking a drink of his beer.

I shake my head. "But the bosses are pushing hard to have this project wrap up early. We could have worked tomorrow, but I wanted to spend the day with you, so I put the crews on ten hour days this week instead. It was bad enough having to work last weekend."

Cooper pushed his hair off his forehead with one hand. "So you're done now?"

Nodding, I take a big drink from my beer, draining half in one go. The bitter tang is just what I need to cut the dust from my throat. "Yeah. We can just relax this weekend."

"Well, I do have something I want to talk to you about." Cooper's fingers tap on the neck of his bottle.

I stiffen. "I don't think anything good has ever come from that phrase." I was trying for a joking tone, but I couldn't quite pull it off.

"There's something I want to do tomorrow, but I wanted to talk it over with you first." His gaze travels over my living room before settling back on me. His pinkie is still tapping the side of his bottle.

My stomach is churning. "Okay. Well, just tell me." The beating around the bush was going to kill me if he didn't just say it. I thought everything had been good between us.

"Well, my boss told me if I want to stay and manage the office, one of the perks is a housing allotment. I thought we could go look at apartments."

What was I supposed to say to that? I'd thought ... I carefully sit my beer down on the coffee table. I don't use coasters, but the table is a hand me down from my older sister and already well used anyway. My eyes slide around my apartment, looking at the spindly TV stand, the white walls and blank windows with dusty white blinds, the ubiquitous brown carpet that all apartments seem to have, and then settle on Cooper.

He's dressed in gray slacks and a red dress shirt, his tie loose but still around his neck. His hair is smoothed back but he has his glasses off. He looks good, really good. Much better than me with my dirty work pants and blue button down shirt open over my white t-shirt, sleeves rolled unevenly up exposing my dirty forearms.

Of course he'd want to look for someplace nicer to live if he is going to stay. Someplace closer to his work, with nice floors and furniture. Who wouldn't trade up if they could?

I run a hand over my head, scrubbing back and forth, the question of how long it would be until he trades up from me flashing in my mind. Once he settles into his work, he'll get to know someone who fits in with his more sophisticated lifestyle.

"Owen?"

I look up. Cooper looks confused. "If you're too tired, you don't have to go with me. I can go by myself in the morning and you can sleep in. I know you've been getting up at five every morning."

Looking for a place would take a while, right? He wouldn't be moving out right away. I still have time with him. "I am tired."

His face falls. "Oh." He looks away from me as he takes a drink of his beer. "Okay. I just wanted to get your input on the places, but maybe I can take some pictures with my camera. That way you can tell if they are good or not."

I really don't want to help him pick out a place where he is going to go to be away from me. Maybe I am trying to move too fast.

"Well, let's talk about it in the morning. I might be fine by then."

I pick up the remote and turn on the TV. "I got a chicken at the store on the way home," I say. "You want to eat and watch a movie?" I'm striving hard to act normal.

"Sounds good."

Cooper and I work in my small kitchen, bumping into each other. It'd seemed fun before, prompting gropes and kisses, but tonight I wonder if the cramped quarters are part of what prompted him to want to find a new place to live.

I'd been assuming we were going to stay together. That he wanted to. I hate being wrong.

That night was also the first night we didn't have sex of any sort since our first night sleeping together. He still made me hard when he slid next to me in bed, especially now that he was sleeping naked, but I'd no actual desire to do anything.

Instead I lay awake, going over everything, trying to figure out what I've been missing.

The sleep I manage to get is restless. It's early when I wake up with my heart pounding but no idea of what I was dreaming. The bedroom curtains were cracked open and I can see the sun rising through the trees, turning the clouds pink and purple.

Scooting away from Cooper's warm body, I get out of bed and walk to the small window, opening it. The air smells wet with the morning dew that hasn't yet been chased away by the heat of the day. A small bird is a speck against the clouds, wheeling and turning in the distance.

It looks so alone, soaring in solitude.

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely Part 2

That's right, by popular decision... Cooper and Owen are back in this week's Wednesday Brief. This time, we're seeing the story through Cooper's eyes. I hope you like this week's installment of my flash story!

Never More Lonely

"La petite morte. Suffer the ravages daily!" Owen smirks as he reads my luggage sticker. Our first kiss, even one that amazing, had to end sometime. I am still snuggled in his arms though, the place I've wanted to be for a long time now.

I grin. "Well they say to put something distinctive on your luggage so you know it’s yours."

"That'll do it." His laugh turns into a yawn.

It is past late, almost early morning. "Sorry. You must be exhausted, mate, and you have to work in a few hours."

His thumb brushes under my eye, the callous rough on my skin. "You look pretty tired yourself."

"A kid kept kicking my seat." I bite the inside of my lip. "Should we go to bed? I need to adjust to the time zone before I go to work on Monday anyway."

Owen looks at the clock. "I think I'll call in sick first. Then we can sleep in." He shows me the bathroom. "You can shower if you want, Cooper."

Feeling a little strange, I take a shower using Owen's soap and shampoo, then wrap my body in his towel. I don't need to shave, even after a day and a half, but my teeth feel furry. I brush them and then pull on a pair of shorts to sleep in. It’s much warmer here than back home.

Owen is in bed when I come out. I hesitate in the doorway, unsure of where I’m sleeping. Even though I've just taken a drink, my mouth is dry. Too bad my palms aren't; I wipe them on my shorts.

"Hey," Owen says. He lifts up the blanket and he still has his pants on. I slip into the bed dressed, enjoying the feeling of the cool sheets as I settle down onto a pillow.

"Turn off the light, will you?" Owen speaks softly in my ear.

"Yeah." Darkness fell over the room. I wondered if he was thinking about sex too. This might be our first meeting in person, but I know my Owen. I know he likes to drink tea at night and coffee in the morning.  His hair is short so it won't curl. He works hard as a construction foreman, but he likes to carve custom walking sticks too.

On weekends his favorite thing is to go hiking. Well, besides sleeping. Owen loves to sleep.

He yawns and then those inches separating our bodies disappears. His chest feels warm and hard against my back. He smoothes down my hair and then kisses my neck.

I shiver.

"Mmm. You smell like me." He nuzzles me. "I like it."

I caress the arm he drapes over my chest. "Me too," I said. I tilt my hips back, pressing into him. He grunts when my ass brushes against his erection. His lips, so warm and soft, kiss a line along my shoulder.

I expect him to rub against me, for his hand slide down and under the waistband of my shorts, but he doesn't.

He sighs. "Sleep. Tomorrow we can talk and I can show you around."

I'm tired enough not to argue.

****

Light shining on my face wakes me up. I've thrown off the covers, but Owen is still tight to my back. It feels good, better than anything I've felt in a long time. I don't want to move, but I have to pee. I squirm out from under Owen's arm and use the bathroom.

Back into bed, Owen's arm falls over me again. "Morning," he said.

"Sorry if I woke you up early."

Owen looks at the clock and makes a noise. "Nah, it's already nine."

"Do you want to get up?"

"Not exactly." His hips nudge me; I feel his erection rub along my crack. I whimper.

"Cooper?"

I don't care if we just met in person. I roll over in his arms, looking in his dark eyes. He has stubble across his cheeks. I let him feel my cock standing stiff and straining my shorts.

Our second kiss is longer than our first. I stretch up and lean over him as he rolls onto his back, never letting our lips separate. His hands rub up and down my back. Panting, I pull back. My balls ache. "Do you have ... ?"

Owen nods at the drawer. "Condoms there." He slides off the bed. "I'll be right back."

I hear the shower curtain slide and then the water runs and the toilet flushes. He’s naked and holding a bottle of lube when he comes back. I chuckle.

"Extra long showers, right?"

He grins but I can't speak anymore as I watch him stalk toward the bed.

In seconds I am under him, both of us too needy for foreplay. The lube’s cold.  I hiss, but he is warm as he pushes inside. He moves too quickly and I wince.

"Sorry." He slows, inching inside me, grimacing at the slow agony. Gradually I relax and he moves faster. I moan and my cock slaps against my stomach as my hips rock with his rhythm.

I can't stop touching his chest and shoulders. He reaches for me. "Soon," he gasps. I nod frantically as his slick palm slides up and down my cock roughly.

"Fuck!" I kick my head back against the pillows as I shoot, cum painting my chest. He groans, then shoves hard. I ache but then he is coming and I'm fascinated by the bliss that sends a flush across his cheeks.

We both lay limp and boneless with satiated pleasure. "La petite morte." He chuckles.

****

After resting for a little while, we clean up. My stomach rumbles as I pull on jeans and a t-shirt. "Want to go get breakfast?" Owen offers. "Then I can show you around."

His hand rests on my lower back. I can’t believe I’m finally here, with Owen. It's a good thing I plan to stay; I'd never be able to leave him.

"That sounds great."

Wednesday Briefs: Never More Lonely

Hey readers! Welcome to my inaugural week as part of the Wednesday Briefs group! Each story has to be under 1k and feature one of the weekly prompts. This week I chose to use the line prompt: You are the sunshine of my ...
Now on to the story!
Never More Lonely

You are the sunshine
of my dark, lonely nighttime
bright my desire

I snort and glance at the computer. Where is he? I know I'm going a little crazy. Hell, I’m writing poetry, the last thing anyone would expect me to do.
Maybe it's the fact that my inspiration isn't someone I know in real life. My sunshine is someone I've never even met.
I scowl. What face to face we do have is late at night for me, early morning for him.
We started talking after I noticed some book reviews he'd written that mirrored my thoughts. We began bonding over books, then movies, then I told him about a local pride event I went to where one of my friends met a man he'd been chatting up online. He turned out to be in his late fifties and totally skeevy.
He laughed and then, with a hesitation I could somehow feel in his written words, he offered his skype information. 'Just so you'll know I'm not skeevy,' he'd said.
He is definitely not skeevy.
He had these geeky little glasses he hides behind but when I gave him a wolf whistle he'd laughed so hard tears came to his eyes. He took off those glasses to wipe them away and then ran his fingers through his hair.
My mouth was too dry to whistle after that. I had a thing for the geeky type but he wasn't geeky, not really. Sleek was the word that came to mind.
I was thankful my computer only showed from the waist up because I was sporting some serious wood.
For some reason he hadn't shown up for our nightly chat for the last two days. I miss his voice yawning over his coffee while I had a nightcap. I have to be up early to get to the job site and need to sleep, but still, I’m waiting.

I log off around midnight. I scrub my hands over my face as I sit on the bed. My shirt falls on the floor when I miss the hamper but I leave it there. Who is going to care? My face hits the pillow and I drag another close, holding it tight. My eyes burn.

Bang.

Bang.

"What the fuck?" I push up to see the alarm clock, groaning when I see it’s after two. "Somebody had better be dying."

I stumble to the front door.

"Who the hell is it?"

"Cooper."

I blink. No way.

"Owen? Are you there?"

It's his voice. I fumble the lock back and open the door. It is him. He looks tired and his clothes are wrinkled.

"Hey." Fuck. I'm an idiot. The first time we actually meet and that's all I come up with?

He smiles shyly. "Hey mate." His voice sounds even better in person. He stares at my bare chest as I devour the sight of his trim body from head to toe, then clears his throat. "Can I come in?"

I’m an idiot. "Of course." I move back, holding the door so he can wheel in his suitcase. "Sorry. I was sleeping."

Cooper laughs and I'm suddenly glad for my loose pajama bottoms. "People usually are at this hour. Sorry for showing up so late, my plane was delayed."

I flip on a light and we sit down on the couch.

"What are you doing here?" I blurt out. I smack myself in the forehead. I need a filter.

His eyes really do twinkle when he laughs hard. I blink and realize my earlier poetry wasn't an aberration, simply another symptom for how gone I am over Cooper.

"Would you believe work? I'm here to organize the newest branch of Bree-bard Unlimited."

We still haven't touched. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

Cooper rubs his neck. "Well, I wasn't sure …"

I have to know what he isn't saying. "About?"

"Well, us. I mean, we've been chatting for a year and we've said how great it would be to meet face to face. But if it was just a visit, could we do it, you know? Could we resist this between us and stay friends, because I don't want to lose that."

I cock my head. "What made you change your mind?"

"Well, I'm going to be here for a month," he blushes and waves his hand around, "well, not here … necessarily. But here in the city."

Of course he'll stay with me. "So a month is long enough for you?" It isn't for me. If Cooper lived here though …

But he doesn't.

"It could be more. If I want, I could stay here."

Silence falls over the room so profound that it's almost like the room is swelling with noise I can't quite hear. It nearly hurts. My heart is racing.

I lick my lips. "You … You would do that?"

Cooper's eyes follow my tongue. "For us. I mean, I don't have to give the company an answer until the office opens. You don't have to commit to," he waves a hand between us, "right this second."

What? I blink. "I haven't gotten off with anyone other than my right hand in eight months because I'm too busy waiting to chat with you to go out. Committing isn't a problem," I say in a rough voice.

I watch his eyes melt behind those ridiculous glasses, turning warm at the idiocy I can't seem to stop spilling from my mouth.

"So that isn't for me?" He glances down. My pants are pulled tight and the stiff bulge is blatantly obvious.

That's it. I've been waiting for so long for him. I slide forward, capture Cooper's face, and pull off his glasses. His lips are as soft as they look and the taste of his mouth makes me moan. I sink one hand in his hair. We kiss until we are both senseless.

Gasping for air, forehead to forehead, we stare into each other's eyes.

"Stay," I tell him.
